Selected time

Join us for a family storytelling and art activity at MoAD with author and poet Arisa White. She will tell the story of Biddy Mason, an African American philanthropist, healer, and midwife who was born into slavery and successfully fought for her freedom here in California, with a reading and discussion of White's book, Biddy Mason Speaks Up. White will lead the audience in an art and poetry reflection activity guided by the question, what does it mean for you and the people you love to be free?

This program is in-person at MoAD, masks are required throughout the museum.
